FBD Empowers Consumer with Interactive New Web Service

Online Customers can now FREE call via internet, TWITTER with FBD and avail of 5% online DISCOUNT

Monday 8th September 2008 – FBD Insurance today launched its interactive next generation website aimed at putting customers in the driving seat when it comes to purchasing car insurance online. The new website www.fbd.ie is designed using Web 2.0 technologies and hosts a range of innovative features focused on giving customers greater control over their purchase.

Commenting on the launch of the new website, Adrian Taheny, Director of Sales and Marketing said, "This significant investment by FBD is recognition by the company for the need to engage with Ireland's ever increasing online community. This new web service will form the keystone of FBD's drive for online transactions to represent 25% of new business growth within the next three years."

This growth trajectory is reinforced by extensive customer research conducted by FBD. The research highlights that 75% of car insurance customers now go online for quotes with 48% detailing that they would be prepared to complete the purchase online if the process was made easier.

With this in mind, the new FBD website has revolutionised the online process for customers by:

  • Providing a quote in under 10 seconds
  • Enabling customers compare benefits across FBD's various plans Vs competitor offerings
  • Customised package building tools to suit individual customers needs and pocket
  • Complete online payment facilities including direct debit authorisation without signature required
  • Immediate cover confirmation
  • Email delivery of documentation to online customer

Benefiting from the Web 2.0 infrastructure, FBD is now the first insurance company in Ireland to provide a range of interactive services aimed at improving the online customer experience.

Free SKYPE Calls – Customers can now contact FBD via SKYPE (a free internet-based telephone system)

Twitter Chatroom – Customers can via Twitter engage directly with FBD staff and watch for regular updates on products and services.  Twitter, a popular micro-blogging service enables users to send and read other user's updates.

Concluding, Taheny emphasised, "This next generation website shows FBD's commitment to meeting changing customer needs. Our website is focused on making it significantly quicker for customers to get a quote and easier for them to get cover. To kick start our new web service we are offering a special discount to customers who complete their transaction online."

FBD Insurance, Ireland's third largest insurance company recently opened a new telephone support centre in Mullingar employing 150 staff. The company also has an existing nationwide network of 50 local offices.
